The Engagement Ring That Does Good
We were born from the belief that businesses have a responsibility to do good. Alongside quality in design and craftsmanship, our top priority is minimizing our impact on the Earth.
Here are the 4 main ways we've implemented "do good" strategies into our production processes:
1. Safely sourced stones
The biggest concern over naturally mined diamonds is where these stones are sourced from. We now know that the majority of internationally traded diamonds promote violence, unfair wages, child-labor, fund rebel wars, and other human rights' violations. The diamond industry has attempted to ease our concerns with programs like The Kimberly Process, which has been proven to do very little to trace a diamond's origin. Given the near impossibility of tracing diamonds to their source, we decided to not participate in the international diamond trade industry.
We only use diamonds that are harvested, not mined and not lab created, here in the USA. We also promote lab-created moissanite as an excellent diamond alternative. Additionally, we look for previously owned/recycled diamonds where we can find them.
2. No mining or drilling into the Earth
Mining for gold and other precious metals causes catastrophic harm to our environment. Simply digging into the Earth to retrieve these metals causes a number of issues for the environment including:
- Contaminating water supplies with toxic waste
- Destroys vital ecosystems
- Acid mine drainage
- Mercury pollution
- Destroying the Amazon
Because we use recycled metals, above-ground harvested diamonds and lab created moissanites, we are in no way utilizing mining or drilling to produce our products.
3. Recycled metals
Precious metals can be re-refined back to their original element, re-used for new production and the end product does not lose its quality in way. Rings made with recycled metals are of the same high quality as rings made with newly mined metals. It is because of this and our priority to sustainability that we use recycled metals as much as possible during production.
4. Packaging made from 100% recycled materials
Sustainability is at the forefront of every decision we make in regard to our processes and production. One way we can help is by using 100% recycled materials where we can. This means our packaging and business materials including shipping containers, business cards and boxes are all made from recycled materials in the US and Canada.
